State officials practice for a terrorist attack they’re not even sure would happen in Missouri. Missouri’s emergency management, law enforcement, and disaster relief officials practiced a scenario in which terrorists set off “dirty bombs” in St. Louis and Kansas City. Dirty bombs are conventional bombs that have radioactive material in them. State Emergency Management Agency Director Ron Reynolds says most people might not think of Missouri as a terrorist target, but this state needs to be ready – just in case. Federal officials observing the exercise say Missouri is doing well in its response. They would not characterize this state’s chances of actually seeing an attack.
