Eminent Domain Task Force to Hear From Public

August 17, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri Task Force on Eminent Domain holds its second meeting Thursday at the State Capitol. And, the public will have a chance to weigh in on concerns about government takeover of private property. The first meeting was an information session, with Task Force members learning about eminent domain, how it’s used in Missouri, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that has sparked concern and led to the creation of the panel. Today’s a chance for the public to voice its thoughts. Task Force Chairman Terry Jarrett says ordinary folks are finding out it’s difficult to challenge a takeover. An interim report will be sent to Governor Matt Blunt by October 1st, with a final report due by the end of the year.
