August 15, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Roger Tambellini shot a seven-under 65 on Sunday to win the Nationwide Tour event in Springfield on Sunday. Tambellini finished the tournament at 21-under to win the tournament by one stroke over David Peoples, Steven Bodwitch, Troy Matteson and Vance Veazey. For his efforts, Tambellini took home a paycheck of $100,080 and jumped from 13th to sixth on the Nationwide Tour money list.

Two former Missouri Amateur champions were in the field in Springfield and finished in the money. Michael Letzig, of Richmond, Missouri, finished eight strokes off the pace at 13-under. He shot 68 every day except Friday, when he finished with a 71. Letzig, won the 2002 Missouri Amateur Championship and was a standout at New Mexico University, where he was once named the Mountain West Athletic Conference Player of the Year.

Jason Schultz, who won the Missouri Amateur in 1995, finished seven strokes off the pace and remained in ninth place on the Nationwide Tour money list. If he finishes the season 20th or better, he will get PGA exemption for 2006. Schultz, played at Mizzou and is from Columbia, now lives in Dallas.
