The Cardinals first trip to Wrigley Field this season did not go as planned. Greg Maddux threw a complete game as Chicago cruised to an 11-4 win over St. Louis. Maddux gave up four runs on 12 hits, including a two-run homer by Albert Pujols. But the Cubs supplied their starter with plenty of offensive support. Chicago scored in every inning except the seventh. Derrek Lee led the charge with two home runs and four RBI. Aramis Ramirez went three-for-four with two RBI, and Corey Patterson had three hits. Mark Mulder took the loss. He gave up seven runs on nine hits in just four innings.
