One of the nation’s best private Civil War museums has become part of the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, near Springfield. General Sweeny’s Museum of the Civil War, owned by Tom and Karen Sweeney, has been sold to the National Parks Service for $4.5-Million. The Service also gets 20 acres on which the museum stands. The transfer has taken place on the 144th anniversary of the battle.
