The first meeting of the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisory Council has been held in Jefferson City, with members hearing from security experts on concerns related to possible threats facing Missourians. Public Safety Director Mark James, Chairman of the Council, says members – including the heads of various state departments – were brought up to date on current efforts. James won’t go into specifics about what was discussed, but reminds Missourians that threats can come from several groups – both foreign and domestic. He says the focus must be on having a mechanism in place to stop these groups or individuals before they strike.
