MoDOT Encourages Car Pooling

August 2, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Department of Transportation is encouraging Missourians to take a break from high gas prices by car pooling. The State Transportation Department maintains 101 commuter lots throughout Missouri, offering more than six-thousand free parking spaces. MoDOT’s Sandy Hentges says the commuter lots are not new – they’ve been around for a while. But, she says, it’s sometimes good to remind motorists. The majority of the lots – 64 of them – are found in the metropolitan areas of St. Louis and Kansas City, but quite a few of the lots are located away from the big cities. For a list of lot locations, log onto www.modot.org. And, in any area in which there is no commuter lot, many schools and churches offer space to car poolers.
