The State Supreme Court has set an August 31st execution date for Timothy Johnston, who was sentenced to die for the beating death of his wife, Nancy. It happened the night of June 30th, 1989. Police responded to an emergency call to the couple’s St. Louis home and found Nancy Johnston’s badly beaten body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Two witnesses reported seeing Timothy Johnston kicking and stomping his wife at another location. Johnston told police he had argued with his wife and admitted hitting and kicking her. A neighbor later told police she had seen Johnston beat his wife with a lawn chair and another object. A jury in St. Louis found Johnston guilty of first-degree murder and recommended the death sentence.
