Within months, thousands of merchants and their employees could get special training in how to stop the sales of things used to make methamphetamine. The Franklin County Sheriff’s office has developed training packets for merchants, telling them how to limit access to sale of ingredients and ways to warn meth-makers they could be in trouble if they try to buy them. The program called “Companies Helping to Eliminate Meth” or CHEM, provides merchants with packets they can use to train employees to avoid selling meth ingredients. It’s hoped the program will become a national one next year.
