A college student biking his way across the country to draw attention to America’s poor eating habits is making his way across Missouri today. Alex Gleason, a 20-year-old college student from South Carolina, started his “Expedition Nutrition” in Olympia, Washington, five weeks ago and is expected to ride into Charleston, South Carolina – a four thousand mile journey – in about a week and a half. He says this country has a major problem: obesity caused by overeating. Gleason hopes that people will see what he’s doing and think more about their food intake and exercising. He’ll be riding out of Missouri today into southern Illinois. By the way, he says the worst road he has ridden on in the entire trip so far – a stretch of Highway 92 near Kansas City.
