After 13 years on the job, Becky Oakes is calling it quits. The Executive Director of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) is leaving her post to become the assistant director of the National Federation of State High School Associations in Indiana. She will oversee track and field, volleyball, gymnastics, and swimming and diving.

Oakes has been a member of the NFHS Appeal Board and Board of Directors and was president of that organization from the 1996-1997 school year. She also chaired the NFHS Volleyball Rules Committee for eight years.

Oakes’ rise to Executive Director of MSHSAA was somewhat ground-breaking, as she became just the second female to ever head a state association.

Oakes was a three-sport athlete at Southwest Missouri State in field hockey, volleyball and softball. She was a member of the SMS team that participated in the AIAW Softball World Series in 1975.
