The Springfield Cardinals were handcuffed by San Antonio starter Thomas Oldham in a 6-2 loss on Sunday. Oldham lasted seven innings and held the Cardinals to two runs off seven hits, with eight strikeouts.

Tyler Minges and Peter Zoccolillo accounted for Springfield’s only runs with solo home runs in the first and seventh innings.

Meanwhile, Springfield starter Justin Pals (5-7) was touched for four runs off seven hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out six and saw his ERA jump to 3.60.

Springfield dropped two-of-three to the Missions and fell to 11-12 in the second half of the season. They remain two games behind the Wichita Wranglers in the East Division of the Texas League. The Cardinals can make some ground, as they head home to face Wichita for a five-game series.
