Sex Offender Photographs to be Posted on Internet

July 11, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Convicted and registered sex offenders throughout the state could soon have their photographs on county sheriff web-sites. Governor Blunt has signed into law a bill allowing any sheriff’s department in the state to post the photos. The bill was signed in Springfield. Chris Fitz with Greene County’s Sex Offender Registration says she and Sheriff Jack Merritt pushed to have the legislation passed, because it was the right thing to do. The Governor has also signed a bill banning trace amounts of mercury in vaccines for expectant mothers and children under the age of three. The new laws take effect August 28th.
