The man suspected of killing a Kirkwood police officer Tuesday has been arrested, without incident, in St. Louis County. 19-year-old Kevin Johnson, who is accused of shooting to death Sergeant William McEntee, surrendered Friday afternoon at an apartment complex. Northwoods police say they received a call from a Johnson family member late Friday afternoon, informing officers that the suspect wanted to turn himself in without being harmed. On Thursday, Johnson’s relatives had made a public plea for him to give up. They said, at that time, that Johnson had been distraught over the natural death of his brother about 90 minutes before the shooting. And, they say Johnson felt police were more interested in arresting him for a probation violation than they were in helping his brother. Sergeant McEntee’s funeral is being held today.
