A policeman from Kirkwood has been shot and killed and other officers don’t know why. Sergeant William McEntee died overnight at a Creve Coeur hospital. He’d been responding to a call about a fireworks dispute. Witnesses say a man approached him and shot him several times. The Kirkwood police chief says the shooting appeared to have nothing to do with the fireworks dispute. The shooter is still on the loose. McEntee had been with the department 24 years. He’s the first policeman killed in the line of duty in the Kirkwood’s history.
