Missourians Encouraged to Shape Up!

July 4, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Health is gearing up for the third annual Shape Up Missouri fitness challenge. The registration period for individuals, businesses, schools, and towns is underway and will run through this Fall. Gayla Vanderlicht, the Council’s Director, says it’ll be some time before the actual competition begins. It doesn’ start until September 26th and will continue until November 18th. Awards are given for winners in various competitions, but Vanderlicht says the major goal of Shape Up Missouri is to increase awareness of the importance of physical fitness and to create a routine that gets Missourians into the habit of getting some exercise.
