Ten Commandments on Grounds of State Capitol Constitutional

June 27, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

It doesn’t appear the Ten Commandments will be removed from the State Capitol grounds in Jefferson City. While the US Supreme Court ruled that displays of the Commandments in two Kentucky courthouses violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment, it upheld their display on the Texas Capitol grounds. And, that extends to the display of the Ten Commandments on the grounds of the Missouri State Capitol. Attorney General Jay Nixon says the court walked a fine line on a touchy issue. There appears to be another display of the Commandments engraved into the Missouri Capitol building, where a lawgiver holds two tablets and is displayed along with other historic lawgivers.
