Former Kansas City pharmacist Robert Courtney’s 30-year prison sentence has been upheld by a federal appeals court. Courtney diluted medications for cancer patients and pocketed the additional profits. Prosecutors say the scheme lasted a decade and affected more than 4,000 patients. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reviewed Courtney’s case after the U.S. Supreme Court ordered federal appellate courts to review criminal cases held in limbo as it considered the constitutionality of federal stentencing standards.
