No criminal charges will be filed against a southwest Missouri couple in connection with the shooting death of their 8-year-old foster child. But the closing of the criminal case doesn’t mean the state investigation ends. No criminal charges will be filed against Mark and Treva Gordon in the shooting death of Braxton Wooden in their Alba home. The couple’s 14-year-old son has been detained by juvenile authorities who allege he shot and killed Braxton during a game of cops and robbers. State Children’s Division Director Fred Simmens points out the state investigation is separate from the criminal one. The Jasper County Coroner has declared the shooting accidental. Now, the criminal investigation has been closed. Simmens says the state investigation is winding down. The shooting death occurred June 2nd.
