Missourians Take Case to BRAC Hearing

June 20, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri’s political, local, and military officials are doing what they can to fight proposed closures of military facilities in this state. They’ve taken their case to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission, which held a public hearing at St. Louis University. Among those taking part were Governor Matt Blunt, U.S. Senator Kit Bond, and U.S. Senator Jim Talent. The main arguments included the claim that the recommendations, as they now stand would lead to a hole in the protection of the nation’s heartland. The Pentagon announced the proposed changes on May 13th.
