Cardinals Lose Game, Series In Toronto

June 16, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A late rally wasn’t enough for the Cardinals, who lost 5-2 to the Blue Jays. After getting down 5-0 on Wednesday, the Cardinals waited until the eighth inning to get on the board. Albert Pujols and Reggie Sanders hit RBI singles to cut Toronto’s lead to three runs. The rally stopped short when third baseman Scott Seabol grounded into a bases-loaded double play to end the inning. In the ninth, St. Louis went down in order to end the game.

Starting pitcher Jason Marquis (8-4) lasted five innings, he allowed all five Blue Jay runs and was stuck with the loss. Orlando Hudson struck first with a two-run homer in the second inning. Alex Rios drove in a run later in the inning to give Toronto a 3-0 lead.

Aaron Hill drove in the last two runs of the game with a double in the fifth inning to make it 5-0, Blue Jays.

St. Louis dropped two of three in Toronto.
