The Springfield Cardinals failed to hold on to an early lead on Thursday night and lost 4-2 to Wichita at Hammons Field. Tyler Minges hit a home run in the first inning to tie the game at 1-1 for Springfield and Andy Schutzenhofer drove in a run with a double in the second to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead. That’s where the offense stopped for Springfield.

The Wranglers scored three times off starter Randy Leek in the third inning to take what proved to be a game-winning 4-2 lead. Wichita starter Derrin Ebert improved to 3-1 on the season—two of his wins are against the Cardinals.

St. Louis Cardinal reliever Cal Eldred made the third appearance of his rehab assignment. He pitched the eighth and ninth innings allowing no runs off four hits.
