The Springfield Cardinals had their four-game winning streak snapped came to an end wit ha 4-3 loss to Wichita. The Cardinals never led in the game, as Wichita jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Cardinal starter Chris Lambert, who was St. Louis’ number one pick in 2004, lasted just three innings.
The loss dropped Springfield to 29-29 on the season.
Four members of the Cardinals roster will play in the Texas League All-Star Game on June 21 at Frisco, Texas. Outfielder Tyler Minges, third baseman Travis Hanson, left-handed pitcher Randy Leek and catcher Robinson Cancel will be on the East Division team.
