The State Health Department is letting it be known that the school lunch program that helps so many low-income children during the school year is still around during the Summer months. The Department’s Melanie Madore says needy families depend on this program. She says these free and reduced-price meals are available through about 600 locations, including schools, parks, YMCA facilities, Boys and Girls Clubs, and churches. Most kids who were eligible during the school year will automatically be eligible now. Parents who are uncertain whether their children are entitled to the benefit should contact the Department of Health, toll-free, at 888-435-1464.
