A Base Realignment and Closure Commission, or BRAC, hearing scheduled for next week in St. Louis has been delayed indefinitely – probably a couple of weeks. At issue, are the proposed cuts of about 3,600 military and civilian jobs at several different installations in the state. Senator Kit Bond says after the Pentagon getting two years to come up with the recommendation, it seemed hardly fair to give Missouri officials only four working days to review the information and come up with a response. Bond says his folks will need a couple of weeks to properly review the proposals but he has no firm date on when the public meeting will be held.
