Prosecutors Lose Bid to Keep Former Priest Behind Bars

June 1, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Former Roman Catholic priest James Beine is a step closer to freedom. Beine had been convicted of exposing himself to boys in the bathroom of a St. Louis public school. The State Supreme Court threw out the conviction, ruling the evidence supporting the conviction was insufficient and the law under which he was convicted unconstitutional. The court now has turned down a request from prosecutors to rehear the case. The Court ordered Beine be turned over to the St. Louis jail to process his release.
