It’s off to the semifinals of the Big 12 baseball tournament for the Missouri Tigers. MU topped Texas Tech 10-1 in Oklahoma City on Thursday to advance.

Sophomore Max Scherzer, who was named the Big 12 pitcher of the year earlier this week, struck out eight and set the school’s single season record for strikeouts in a season with 128 so far. Scherzer allowed three hits in 6 2/3 innings and reliever Andrew Johnston mopped up without allowing a hit or walk.

The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the first and led 6-0 by the end of the third inning. Catcher Jacob Priday was 3-for-5 with three RBI’s and pinch hitter Greg O’Neill hit a two-run homer in his only at-bat.

The Tigers are in the semifinals for the second straight season and will play on Saturday against the winner of Friday’s match up between Nebraska and Texas Tech.
