Mizzou Softball Loses NCAA Regional Opener

The Missouri softball team lost its NCAA Regional opener on Friday, falling to Southern Illinois 3-0. It’s just the third time this season the Tigers have been shutout.Maria Damico drove in all three runs for the Salukis with an RBI single in the fourth and a two-run homer in the sixth. The Tigers had seven hits on the day, but failed to bring a runner home.The Tigers now need to win two games on Saturday and two more on Sunday to advance to the Super Regionals.Stanford won the late game on Friday. The Cardinal scored in every inning of a 9-0 win over Robert Morris.Stanford plays Southern Illinois at noon on Saturday. Mizzou and Robert Morris meet at 3:30. The loser of game one then takes on the winner of game two at 7:00.
