Springfield Pounded By Arkansas Homers

May 19, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals opened their series against the Arkansas Travelers with a 12-1 loss at Hammons Field Wednesday night. The Cardinals couldn’t keep the ball in the yard, as Arkansas hit five home runs. Traveler’s second baseman Alberto Callapso went deep from both sides of the plate—he hit a right-handed solo shot in the first inning and a grand slam from the other side of the plate in the fifth.

Springfield starter Buddy Blair was charged with the loss and dropped to 1-6 on the season.
