The new head of the State Social Services Department denies any wrongdoing a day after state Democrats call for his firing for working two jobs. Social Services Director Gary Sherman defends teaching at the University of Wyoming and running the state social services department at the same time during the month of April. That shuttling back and forth came at taxpayers’ expense; a bit more than $1,100 total for three trips. He is also paid $8,600-a-month. Sherman says it was well worth the money considering the Medicaid reforms that were going through the legislature at the time. And Sherman says he made it clear to lawmakers and the governor’s office that he would have to go back and forth while he finished his commitment to the University of Wyoming.
