Senate Republicans are making it clear they’re pleased with what they consider a very successful legislative session. Not only did Republican Senators send agenda items like litigation reform and workers’ compensation reform to a Governor willing to sign the bills, they had a much easier time moving their legislation through a Senate in which filibusters had bogged down that legislation in the past. Senate Leader Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood says this was refreshing, likening it to a freesh breeze blowing through the halls of the Capitol. Gibbons says this new tone of civility allowed Republicans and Democrats to deal with issues of significant magnitude with debate never being cut off.
