Stephen Hempstead

It is September of 1776. The Battle of Harlem Heights has just recently been fought and the British are camped on Long Island. A small group of Americans makes a spying trip into the British camp. One of the group is captured and hanged. His name is Nathan Hale. Others escaped to spy and fight again. One of those who got away was Stephen Hempstead. It was not his first narrow escape.
