The Royals were swept by the White Sox, with a series-ending 4-2 loss in Chicago. Mike Sweeney drove in Kansas City’s only runs with a double in the third inning and a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

Between Sweeney’s RBI’s the White Sox scored four times. Joe Crede, a native of Westphalia, Mo., hit a solo home run off starter Runelvys Hernandez in the third inning. In the fourth, former Royal Jermaine Dye drove in a run with a single and A.J. Pierzynski followed with a two-run homer to make it 4-1.

Hernandez pitched into the eighth inning and suffered his fourth loss (1-4). He was charged with four runs off six hits and a walk.
