Wednesday is Children’s Mental Health Summit Day, and mental health officials throughout the country are raising awareness about the need for services for kids. The Missouri Mental Health Department views Children’s Mental Health Summit Day as an opportunity to talk up the need to tend to children who require access to mental health care services. The Department’s Brooke Dawson says roughly 7-percent of Missouri’s children need those services and one in five will need help during his or her lifetime. She says it’s imperative that children in need be identified and treated. Dawson points out mental health care resources are focused, primarily, on those considered most at-risk.
