Jose Lima took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and lost it in dramatic fashion, as the Indians scored five times to tie the Royals. But Mike Sweeney’s eighth inning homer, his second of the day, gave the Royals a 6-5 win over the Indians.

Sweeney’s first shot came with the bases empty in the first inning and gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead. Matt Stairs made it 2-0 in the fourth with an RBI double. Catcher John Buck hit a two-run homer in the fifth and outfielder Terrence Long hit a solo homer in the sixth give the Royals a 5-0 advantage..

Two swings of the bat tied the game for the Indians. Travis Hafner hit a two run homer and Grady Sizemore connected for a three-run blast and Lima’s day was over. Mike Wood entered the game to get the final out of the inning and pitched a perfect seventh inning to get the win. Ambiroux Burgos got his first save by putting the Indians down in order in the ninth

The Royals won two-of-three from the Indians for their first series win of the year. They’ve won two games in a row for the first time this season.
