Jose Lima took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and lost it in dramatic fashion, as the Indians scored five times to tie the Royals. But Mike Sweeney’s eighth inning homer, his second of the day, gave the Royals a 6-5 win over the Indians.
Sweeney’s first shot came with the bases empty in the first inning and gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead. Matt Stairs made it 2-0 in the fourth with an RBI double. Two swings of the bat tied the game for the Indians. Travis Hafner hit a two run homer and Grady Sizemore connected for a three-run blast and Lima’s day was over.
