Springfield Cardinals Win In 9th

April 29, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Springfield Cardinals returned home on Thursday and grabbed thrilling 2-1 win over Corpus Cristi. Outfielder Tyler Minges was the hero, despite getting benched for Rick Ankiel. Minges hit a pinch hit, walk-off homer.

The home run upped Minges’ batting average to .394, while Ankiel went 1-for-4.

Starting lefty Randy Leek lasted eight innings for the Cardinals and dropped his season ERA to 1.74.

The St. Louis Rams have come to terms with their fourth-round pick, safety Jerome Carter. The two sides have agreed on a three-year deal.

Carter was a defensive captain his senior year at Florida St. He made 74 tackles with a sack, an interception and a forced fumble.
