University of Missouri pitcher Michael Cole is in jail after allegedly stabbing another man earlier this week. Cole was arrested yesterday and charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action

According to reports, the alleged incident arose out of an argument about stolen beer and liquor. Witnesses told Columbia police that in the early hours of Sunday morning, Cole left his home and went across the street to another residence where a party was going on. Cole, who wasn’t invited to the party allegedly walked in and took two bottles of liquor and some beer.

People from the party, including the accuser, went over to Cole’s residence. While they were talking, Cole left and allegedly stabbed one of the members of the group that had come from across the street.

According to reports, the accuser was treated and released from the hospital with wounds to his torso and thigh.

Cole, who is a sophomore, has appeared in five games this season and has a 1-0 record and an ERA of 1.12.
