The deadline for work to be completed on the 2006 Fiscal Year Budget is rapidly approaching, and work moves to the Senate floor this week. Senator Chuck Gross of St. Charles, who Chairs the Appropriations Committee, says the intitial phase of the discussions starts this week before House and Senate negotiators get together to iron out their differences. Gross says that while there are some differences between the two chambers’ versions of various budget bills, the differences are not philosophical and he expects all things to be worked out in a timely manner. The conference could begin this weekend. A budget must be in place by 6pm on May 6th.
