The Kansas City Royals lost a heartbreaking 10-9, 10-inning decision to the Twins at the Metrodome Thursday. In the ninth inning the Royals and Twins were tied at 8-8, when Angel Berroa hit an RBI single to break the tie and give Kansas City the lead. But the bottom of the ninth proved to be a disaster for Royals’ reliever Mike MacDougal, who allowed two hits, two walks (one intentional) and a run to move the game to extra innings.

After going down in order, the Royals failed to hold serve in the bottom of the tenth. Sean Camp loaded the bases and Twins’ left fielder Lew Ford broke the tie with a single to score Jason Bartlett and end the game.

It was not a pretty day for starting pitchers, as Brian Anderson was shoved out in the fourth inning and Twins starter Dave Gassner hit the showers in the second. Camp was charged with the loss, as Kansas City dropped both games in Minnesota.
