Senate Approves Bill To Save First Steps

April 20, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Senate has given final approval to a bill to maintain the First Steps program, which provides services to developmentally disabled children. Senate Leader Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood says this is a chance for the Legislature to save a popular program that had been on the chopping block. The Senate bill would make changes to the way in which eligible children are identified and would ensure the delivery of First Steps services is done on a regional basis. The bill now goes to the House.
