The newest member of the Missouri House has to learn fast to cast informed votes in these last few weeks of the legislative session. 29-year-old Ryan Silvey of Kansas City won a special election to fill the remainder of Representative Dan Bishop’s term. Bishop died before the session started. Silvey says the late start makes it difficult for him to make informed decisions. Though Ryan is young, at 29, he’s not the youngest member of the House. That distinction is held by Representative Leonard Jonas Hughes IV of Kansas City. Hughes just turned 25.
