The State Democratic Party charges the current Governor with ethics violations, but a former Democrat Governor backs off a direct attack. Missouri’s Democratic Party has filed an ethics violation complaint against Governor Matt Blunt for what it calls an illegal in-kind campaign contribution of a bus from Jefferson City car dealer Mike Kehoe. Kehoe has been nominated to serve on the State Highway Commission. Democratic Party Chairman, former Governor Roger Wilson says campaigns need to comply with the law and the public needs to know who is donating, although he has nothing against Kehoe. However, when asked if he agrees with what the Missouri Democratic Party’s press release says, “Our Governor wants Missouri’s transportation policy to be set by donors who are willing to conspire with him to evade Missouri’s campaign finance laws, not by who is best for the job,” Wilson responds, “No comment.” Republicans have dismissed the complaint as “stupid.”
