Man Who Inspired "Johnny B. Goode" Dies

April 14, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Johnny B. Goode has died. Musician Johnnie Johnson of St. Louis, has died of natural causes at the age of 80. Johnson is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his boogie, blues, and rock and roll piano-playing. He was once known as “the baddest right hand in the land.” He gave his last performance just three weeks ago, the headliner of a blues show in St. Louis. Singer Chuck Berry, a close friend of Johnson’s, says Johnson was the best piano player he ever worked with. He was Berry’s sideman for two decades and claimed he was the inspiration for Berry’s hit song, “Johnny B. Goode.”
