ACLU Sues School District Over Shirt Ban

April 7, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The American Civil Liberties Union is suing the Webb City School district because it sent a heterosexual girl student home twice for wearing t-shirts with gay-friendly messages. Webb City is the same district that suspended a young man last fall for wearing a t-shirt that said, “I’m gay and I’m proud.” He was allowed to go back to classes after promising not to wear shirts with messages like that. The ACLU says the school district is violating the constitutonal rights of studens by forbidding them from expressing their opinions.
