Blunt Wants Audit Of KC Head Start Agency

April 5, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Matt Blunt says there’s an urgent need to investigate spending by the Kansas City Head Start Agency. He’s asking State Auditor Claire McCaskill to look at the books and says state and federal prosecutors need to examine how the KCMC Development Corporation has spent more than one-million dollars from the State Social Services Department and more than $20-Million federal. Blunt’s call for a widespread investigation has come after the Kansas City Star found the former head of the agency had used its credit cards more than one-thousand times for more than $165,000 worth of purchases, including trips to Bermuda and Paris and clothes.
