A new resource has been launched to give consumers more information on hospital quality. A government web site unveiled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will give people the opportunity to compare the quaity of health care provided in hospitals across the state and the country. Doctor Gregg Laiben, Medical Director of Primaris – a Columbia-based non-profit healthcare consulting firm, says logging onto www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov provides data on how well hospitals treat three common medical conditions – heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Similar information is available at www.medicare.gov.
