Pulsipher Breaks Toe, Cards Win, Royals Lose

April 1, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals played the Orioles for the second straight day in the second state in as many days. The Redbirds grabbed a 5-1 win over Baltimore at the Oriole’s Double-A facility in Oklahoma City. On Wednesday, they tied the Orioles 5-5 in Florida.

Chris Carpenter got the start and lasted five innings to get the win. He allowed one run off three hits to improve to 3-1 in the spring. Mark Grudzielanek led the way for the Cardinals at the plate with two RBI’s. Albert Pujols and Jim Edmonds also drove in runs.

Bill Pulsipher’s career with the Cardinals may have to be put on hold. He broke a toe in Wednesday’s game and the team isn’t sure if he’ll be ready to pitch in the two exhibition games against the Springfield Cardinals this weekend. Pulsipher had an 0.00 ERA this spring..

Zack Greinke allowed two earned runs in the Royals 3-0 loss to the Rangers on Thursday, to wrap up their season in Arizona. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Kansas City. They finished their Cactus League season with a mark of 12-17. They’ll face the Astros this weekend for two more exhibition games, then they head to Detroit to open the season on Monday.
