Cards Top Mets, Sanders Says He’ll Be Ready

March 24, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The Cardinals put an end to New York’s 10-game unbeaten streak by beating the Mets 3-2 in Jupiter, Florida. Matt Morris lasted three innings as the starter Wednesday and surrendered a run off three hits. With the scored tied 2-2 in the eighth inning Hector Luna was sent in to pinch hit and he delivered, knocking in Scott Rolen with a double.

The Cardinals should have their starting left fielder in the lineup by opening day. Reggie Sanders, who underwent an appendectomy last week, said yesterday that he expects to be back in action next week, as the final tune up for the regular season begins and he should play in the season opener.
