A federal emergency grant is headed to the Missouri Economic Development Department to help more than 200 former American Airlines employees in Kansas City who have been restructured out of work. It’s a $1.2-Million grant, with the first installment – worth $551,000 – already on its way to the Missouri Economic Development Department. The Department’s Paul Sloca says the assistance is primarily for retraining of former American Airlines Kansas City employees who were restructured out of work. Sloca says that while the main targets are those who are still looking for work, all of the former American Airlines Kansas City employees might benefit. Sloca says the State has an obligation to offer training and assistance to displaced workers to help them get back on their feet again.
