Legislature Tries To Crack Down On Underage Drinking

March 21, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

An effort is underway in this legislative session to crack down on teenage drinking. Senate Majority Leader Michael Gibbons of Kirkwood sponsors a measure that would not allow teenagers found in possession from getting or keeping their driver’s licenses. Adults who allow teens to drink could be charged with misdemeanors. School districts would have to develop anti-drinking policies. Gibbons says the consequences of teenage drinking are evident. Gibbons says a community approach is the only way to attack the problem. He says schools and adults must be involved by taking teen drinking seriously.
